The family of Rodney Charles Gretka is saddened to announce his passing on February 1, 2025 at the age of 71. Born on January 5, 1954, in Wyandotte, Michigan to Stephen and LaDonna Gretka, Rodney lived a life filled with love, adventure, and an unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community.
Rodney was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam era. After his time in the military, he worked as an electrician and entrepreneur, owning and operating a successful pizzeria/restaurant, Spinners, alongside his wife, Debbie.
Above all, Rodney was a loving and cherished husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Gretka, his daughters Malori Nichols (Casey Fowler) and Ladonna Howell (Bill), and his stepson Bobby W. Hall (Becky). He was the proud grandfather of Emily Camp (Caleb), Landyn Nichols, Maci Howell, Lane Fowler, Easton Howell, and step-grandfather to Maggie Hall and Olivia Hall. His sisters, Sharon Mayer and Lori Gretka also survive him, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends from across the country.
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Stephen F. Gretka Jr. and Timothy A. Gretka.
From his early years as a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Parish, Rodney built a foundation of faith that lasted a lifetime. He found purpose in his involvement with Forgotten Eagles, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for veterans and their families. His commitment to honoring those who served was a reflection of his own deep patriotism and kind spirit.
Rodney was the life of every party—a man whose laughter, charisma, and genuine friendship left a lasting mark on all who knew him. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time around the campfire with those he cared about. His legacy will live on in the stories shared, the friendships he built, and the love he gave.
