It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Samuel David-Evon Elliott Sr., who
departed this life on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on April 15, 1945, in
Jenkins, Kentucky, Samuel was the son of the late Helen and Evon Elliott. He spent his
formative years growing up in Detroit, Michigan, where he grew up alongside his five
siblings.
Samuel cherished his family deeply. He was a dear brother to Jim (Diane) Elliott and is
preceded in death by his siblings Paul, Mike, Bob, and John Elliott. His childhood in Detroit
was filled with wonder and fascination, particularly with the marvel of transportation. One
of his favorite memories was watching airplanes soar through the Detroit skies—a passion
that would follow him throughout his life.
In 1964, Samuel began a beautiful journey with Marlene Elliott, his loving wife of over 30
years. Together, they created a strong and loving family, raising three amazing children:
Sam Elliott, Steve (Heather) Elliott, and Stacey Elliott. Samuel was a devoted father who
found immense joy in building memories with his children. As a grandfather, he was equally
proud, doting on his grandchildren, Krystal (Jimmy) Elliott and Daniel (Alison) Elliott, and
celebrating their accomplishments with love and pride.
In later years, Samuel found love again with his cherished partner, his beloved Sandy
Roark. Their 20 years together were marked by mutual respect, friendship, and unwavering
support.
Samuel's legacy lives on through his extended family, including many nieces and nephews
who held him dear. His kindness, ingenuity, and love will forever be remembered by all who
knew him.
