With heavy hearts, the family of Sandra Elaine (Holt) Hensley announces her passing on November 28, 2025, at 4:47 a.m., at the age of 62.
Born on October 29, 1963, Sandra was the daughter of the late Joe Holt and Joyce Ann (Dorton) Holt, and sister to the late Gary Holt. Sandra grew up in a close-knit family and is survived by her three siblings: Ronnie Holt, Blain Holt, and Sue Holt-Lemon, who will forever cherish her memory. She will be missed by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Sandra met the love of her life, Wayne Hensley, in Detroit. Though he was from Pineville, Kentucky, their worlds aligned perfectly, and they became best friends and devoted companions. Faith was at the center of their marriage—they taught Sunday school together and built their life on shared devotion and love. Married for 25 wonderful years, Sandra never remarried after Wayne’s passing; he remained her one true love.
She was a devoted mother to Cathy Holt, Wayne (Gina) Hensley, George (Johanna) Hensley, Steven Hensley, and Michael (Cassy) Hensley. Her heart overflowed with pride and love for her family. Sandra was blessed with beautiful grandchildren—Noah, Isaac, Aydyn, Michael II, Hayden, Greyson, Holten, Alicia, George, Harmony, Justin, Dustin, and Jonas—each one a source of joy, light, and laughter in her life. She was preceded in death by her grandson Isaiah.
Throughout her years, Sandra embraced many roles with grace and compassion. She provided warmth and care as a home provider, and was a loving grandmother, mother, sister, and aunt. Sandra had a way of making everyone feel loved and welcomed; all who knew her were touched by her kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit.
Faith was the utmost importance to Sandra. She will be missed by the community of faith at Open Door Baptist Church in Detroit. Sandra began attending the church there when her children were young, serving in a variety of ways.
Sandra's legacy is one of faith, family, and unwavering love. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. until time of service at Solosy Funeral Home in Lincoln Park, Michigan.
Funeral Service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Service will be led by Pastor Lawrence Mendez and all who loved, appreciated, and knew her are welcome.
Sandra's burial will take place at Hensley Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky, near the town of Sommerset in the days following. Her services will be in the care of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Kentucky.
