Shannon Kay Hite, a lifelong Downriver resident, passed away on April 23, 2026, at the age of 63. She was born on January 22, 1963, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to the late David Raymond Nelligan and Joyce (Hogan) Nelligan.
Shannon was a woman who lived life on her own terms, finding joy in the simple things and comfort in the people she loved most. She shared a devoted life with her husband, William Wayne Hite, affectionately known as Bill. Together, they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and resilience.
She was the proud and loving mother of Christopher (Lisa) Hite and Stephanie (William) Aben, and the cherished grandmother of Emma, Oliver, Ethan, and Cameron. Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life, and she found her greatest happiness in spending time with them, spoiling them, and creating lasting memories they will carry forever.
Shannon is also survived by her siblings Phillip, Marion, and Dave, and was preceded in death by her siblings Elaine and Jesse.
She will be remembered for her unmistakable personality and the little things that made her uniquely Shannon—enjoying a Pepsi and a cigarette, indulging her sweet tooth, and watching her favorite movie, Pretty Woman, time and time again. More than anything, she will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to her family and the special bond she shared with those closest to her.
Cremation has taken place in the care of Solosy Funeral Home. A Memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Her family will forever cherish the memories of a life well lived and a woman well loved.
