Thomas Lane Aguirre

The family of Thomas Lane Aguirre, of Southgate, is saddened to announce his passing on Monday, October 23, 2023, at the age of 66 years.

Beloved father of Megan (James) and Katelyn (Robert). Proud grandfather of Adrian, Annabel, Dominic, and Lucia.

Thomas was born on November 11, 1956, to Adam and Oralia Aguirre. He is survived by his sister Yvette. He is preceded in death by his siblings Dennis and Diane.

Thomas' life tells a story of struggle and strength. His battle with cerebral palsy was the backdrop of his life and was the catalyst for many of his struggles. Despite the hardship, however, Thomas was strong and persevered. Where his body lacked strength, his mind made up the difference. He was a strong-willed person and was never afraid to share his opinion. Sometimes, he could be blunt, and it might drive his girls crazy but now they smile while remembering those times because it was his way of showing love. He was famous for his catchphrase, "how 'bout that".

Thomas was a passionate man and the things he loved…he loved 110%. Family was everything to him. He had a large extended family and remained close with many of them throughout the years. His daughters were so dear to him, and he was overjoyed with the grandchildren he received from them. Thomas was a huge car fan. He loved Cadillacs and especially loved his Buick Riviera. He religiously rooted for the Detroit Tigers and got down to the ballpark whenever he was able.

Thomas wanted to live life on his own terms even when he fell ill with cancer. He will be sincerely missed by his family and friends, but his strength will live on in their lives.

Visitation will take place at Solosy Funeral Home on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at 4:00 PM.
