Gibraltar

Thomas A. Turner, age 91, of Gibraltar, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026. He was born on April 1, 1934, in Detroit to William P. Turner and Winifred M. (Butler) Turner.

Tom was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving honorably for three years. During his time in the service, he and his beloved wife, Vivian, embraced the opportunity to travel throughout Europe—an experience they cherished deeply. It was during those years that their family began to grow, and they even brought a baby home with them, beginning the next beautiful chapter of their lives together.

After his military service, Tom went on to build a steady and faithful career as a supervisor in the steel industry. Known for his strong work ethic and quiet leadership, he was a dependable presence both on the job and at home. Though he had some college education, much of what he learned came from life itself—through service, hard work, and love for his family.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vivian Turner, and his daughter, Cindy Turner.

He is lovingly remembered by his children: Elaine (Bob) Moberley, Tom (Debbie) Turner, John (Lisa) Turner, Nancy (Larry) Hassell, and Teri Turner. He was a proud grandfather to Tom, Allison, John, Chris, Brent, Adam, Matthew, Morgan, and Alex, and a joyful great-grandfather to Harper, Benjamin, Peter, Christina, Viviana, and Gigiada.

As a young man, Tom worked as a lifeguard at Blaney Park in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, a time in his life he loved to reminisce about. He carried those memories with him and shared them often. He was known as a happy, easygoing man—simple in the best sense of the word. He didn’t need much to be content. He found joy in the everyday moments and in the people around him.

In his later years, Tom enjoyed building birdhouses, crafting them carefully and giving them away to friends and family. It was a small but meaningful reflection of who he was—creating something with his hands and giving it freely to others. His generosity, gentle spirit, and steady presence made him someone everyone loved.

Tom will be remembered for his warm smile, his stories, his quiet strength, and the love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the generations that follow him and in the many small gifts he left behind—both wooden and heartfelt.

Cremation has taken place in the care of Solosy Funeral Home. His family will forever cherish the memories of a life well lived and a man well loved.
