Thomas J. Woloszyk

Thomas J, Woloszyk, 80 of Newport passed away surrounded by his family and close friends on June 5, 2021 at his home in Estral Beach.  Loving husband of Lee (Widener) Woloszyk for 52 years.  Devoted father of Chris (Darrin) Crowell of Dundee, MI and Judi (Cary) Boettner of Mancelona, MI.  "Jaja" to Shawn (Shania) Crowell and Jordan Scholl, great-grandfather to Benjamin Thomas Crowell.  Dear brother to Annie Arnoldi.   Tom was preceded in death by his wife Lee and sisters Rosemary Marken and Lorraine Struble.

Tom entered the U.S. Navy in 1958 and served 8 years as Petty Officer 1st Class traveling the seas and fostering his deep love for the water.  He worked at Chrysler for 15 years after serving in the Navy, followed by 15 years at DTE  before retiring to his cherished home, the "Main Resort" on Lake Erie.  Between 1976 and 1985 Tom commuted between southern Michigan and Mancelona where Lee and his daughters lived while he worked at the Chrysler plant in Trenton.  Tom enjoyed his time up north cutting wood, raising cows and hunting.

Tom believed in working hard and demonstrated this through his many years of service as the south area turbine supervisor at DTE where he was fondly known as "Turbine Tom".  Upon his retirement he enjoyed boating and fishing as well as spending time with his family and dear friends, Chris and Jessica Anglin who became his extended family.

Many fond memories will live on in countless people who Tom spent time with telling stories, cooking his famous ribs or just passing on his infinite wisdom in everything from woodworking, welding and tinkering in his garage to designing a new sea wall at his home that no doubt will withstand years to come of crashing waves rolling in.

Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of his life will take place at his home with family and friends in the coming weeks followed by Tom and Lee's inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI
