Obituary

Thomas Wayne Yike Sr., lovingly known as "Tommyboy,” passed away on December 17, 2025, at the age of 55. Born on April 13, 1970, in California, Tommy lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

Tommy was the beloved husband of Christina Marie Maddox-Yike, the love of his life and his greatest priority. From the very beginning, Chrissy was his heart—his best friend and his partner in everything. From the first moments together their bond was deep, constant, and full of love, and anyone who knew Tommy knew he would do anything to care for Chrissy and that he completely adored her.

He was a proud and devoted father to Paige Lamerson (Josh), Thomas Yike Jr., John Yike, Robert Yike, Gabriella Brown, Felissia Brown (Vincent Ritchie), Kayla MacDougall (Chris), Angelina Konopka (Rob), Cody Maddox, Soulen Nicholson (Caitlyn), and Mark Newmann. Tommy’s children were his world, and he took great pride in being a steady provider and protector, never allowing his family to go without. His love extended just as fiercely to his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy: Hayden Yike, Thomas Yike III, Dominic Brown, Mya Brown, Brooklyn Yike, Madison Yike, Harley Yike, Miles Yike, Elizabeth Yike, Lilliana Keifer, Noah Brown, Melody Tennyson, Vincent Tennyson, Aubree Ritchie, Zae, Gabriella Christie, Bryce Maddox, Madalynn “MJ” Maddox, and Cayden Nicholson.

Tommy is survived by his father, William Yike, and his siblings Edward Yike (Billy Ray) and Sheryl Yike. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra (Spry) Yike, his brother William Yike, and his stepfather Daniel Hollis. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Sue Ryerse; brothers-in-law Jeremy Maddox, Wendell Maddox II, Nathan Maddox, James Maddox, and Brian Trudeau (Crystal Steffes); sister-in-law Crystal Maddox (David); and many nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply. As a loving uncle, Tommy was a steady presence and role model—Mark and Bobby looked up to him as a father figure, and he never took that role lightly.

A man known for his work ethic, Tommy worked tirelessly and took great pride in providing for those he loved. He was employed with Operating Engineers Local 324 with Major Cement Contracting, where he was respected and valued for his dependability and skill, especially for his expertise in operating and driving major equipment. His coworkers were more than colleagues—they were extended family.

Tommy was a proud member of the FWMC and found freedom and peace riding his Harley-Davidson. He loved spending time with family and friends, cheering for the Detroit Tigers and Lions, and being surrounded by people. A natural jokester with an outgoing personality, Tommy was known for making others laugh and for his playful saying, “Say hey if you’re gay” which was always met with a smiling, familiar response of “Hey-hey.” His light, infectious humor filled rooms and lifted spirits.

He was also blessed with friendships that ran deep. Friends like Q-Ball, Goomer, and Bandiddo were family in every sense of the word. Cody Maddox and Soulen Nicholson were more than sons to him—they were best friends—and Tommy was rarely seen without a family member or friend nearby. He was happiest when surrounded by the people he cared for.

Above all else, Tommy loved fiercely—his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and everyone under his care. He was a provider, a protector, a friend, and a constant source of strength. His presence was larger than life, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him.

Thomas Wayne Yike Sr., "Tommyboy,” will be remembered for his big heart, working hands, quick wit, and unconditional love. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
