The family of Veronica Susan Giss, of Lincoln Park, is saddened to announce her passing on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at the age of 101 years.
Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Veronica was born on January 13, 1922 to the late Joseph and Mary Giss in Springdale, Pennsylvania. She is preceded in death by her 7 brothers. Veronica was the beloved sister of Robert, Alador, John, Pete, Bill, Charlie, and Frank. Before she was born, Veronica's parents traveled from Austria, Hungary to the United States. Joseph and Mary began raising their family in Pennsylvania. Years later, Joseph and his son Pete came to Michigan to find work and a home. Mary and the other children followed soon afterwards.
Veronica lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, and especially music. She liked music that harkened back to her youth and 40's music was her favorite. Big Band music could always make her feet tap to that syncopated rhythmic beat. A ukulele guitar could often be found in her hands, while strumming and singing her favorite songs. One of the things Veronica delighted in the most was singing songs to her nieces, nephews, and their families. Above everything else, gathering with family was top on the list of things she loved to do.
