Virginia E. Barkholz (Nee Searles)

Age 88 of Southgate. Born December 27, 1924 in Detroit, MI to Sidney and Eva Searles. She is survived by her 5 children, Linda Wilcox, Delores Schafer, Bernice Stone, John Barkholz and Thomas (Karen) Barkholz. Eight grandchildren, Wendy (David) Zerla, Scott Stone, Allan Shupick, Karen (Adam) Hogue, Bryan (Crystal Gonzales) Shupick, Jason Barkholz, Anna Barkholz and Stephen Barkholz. Five Great grandchildren, Aria Zerla, Darien Zerla, Kathryn Hogue, Ella Neal and Caden Gonzales and her sister Betty Shelke along with several nieces and nephews. Virginia was an Eastern Star, an American Red Cross Volunteer, was involved with home nursing and civil defense. Virginia ran for school board and city council. She only had an 8th Grade education but went back to school and received her diploma in 1992. She retired from Asher School at the age of 80. Virginia was loved and will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday 5:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
