Vivian Arline Henegar, 89, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023.
Vivian was born in Detroit, Michigan to Vale and Gladys Kuhn. She was a powerful soul who loved hard and worked hard her whole life, starting as a young woman cleaning houses and waitressing. She met her husband of 60+ years, Charles Henegar, at Mott's Hamburgers in Detroit where they gave each other a hard time until they fell in love. Vivian went on to manage restaurants, wrangle kitchen crews and eventually opened a restaurant of her own with her husband and family. She had a sharp wit and a caring heart and never met a dog, a horse, or an alpaca she didn't love. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her grandson Matthew McKee, son-in-law Timothy McKee and several dear brothers and sisters. Her unmistakable laugh, her ability to see the beauty in everyday life and her utter lack of tolerance for B.S. will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children John Henegar (Cheryl) and Valerie McKee, her brother Gary Kuhn (Bev), her grandchildren Callie McLoughlin-McKee (Amy), Trevor McKee (Crystal), and Johnny Henegar (Jesse), along with great-grandchildren (Sean, Kristen, Hallie, Daizy, Leo, Mia, Zane and Jemma). She was also a beloved aunt, sister-in-law, friend and neighbor.
Solosy Funeral Home will provide a brief service on Thursday, August 17, 2023 before her interment at Michigan Memorial Cemetery. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
Vivian found peace, rest and laughter in her final months with the loving women of Angela's Hospice in Livonia, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to their important work or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. In her honor, take a moment on your porch to sit and appreciate the sun on your face, weave a really good story or poof your hair up just a little higher…
