Warren Wolfgang Sommer, born on January 23, 1989, passed away on October 5th, 2024, at the age of 35. Warren was a beloved brother, friend, and soon-to-be father. He leaves behind his sister, Shelby Sommer, his girlfriend, Jennifer Rhodes, and many close friends who considered him family—Kurt, Billy, Chris, Steve, Chris D., Kenny, Smokin' Joe, Matt, and Tasha. Warren's legacy will also live on through his unborn son, Warren Wolfgang Sommer Jr., who is expected to arrive on November 30, 2024.
Warren was known for his adventurous spirit, artistic talents, and infectious humor. As a child, he was full of energy, often found riding bikes, rollerblading, or helping his father with car repair jobs. It was during these early years that Warren discovered his extraordinary talent for drawing. A self taught artist, his lifelike sketches and drawings captivated everyone who saw them. Warren's artistic skills were praised from a young age, and his passion for creating art continued to grow throughout his life.
Warren was a man of many trades, having worked as a mechanic, in a machine shop, and as a biohazard remediation specialist. Despite his varied skills, it was his creativity and artistry that left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Detroit was Warren's playground. He loved the city's nightlife, spent many summer days at Belle Isle. He also loved to visit Cedar Point where his competitive spirit often led to him winning the biggest prizes. He also had a passion for video games, sneaker collecting, kayaking, boating, and indulging in Detroit Style pizza—especially Jets.
Warren was known as the life of the party, always ensuring that everyone around him was laughing and having a good time. A jokester by nature, his mischievous pranks and practical jokes brought joy to those around him, from childhood through adulthood. His kindness was equally legendary— Warren was quick to lend a hand to anyone in need, and his generosity knew no bounds.
Among his most cherished memories were spending time with his friends at Belle Isle beach, kayaking and boating around Metro-Detroit, attending Daly in the Alley every year, spontaneously flying to Las Vegas for a wild adventure, and saving a friend's life using Narcan. Warren adored animals, instantly bonding with pets in every home he visited, often making them his instant companions.
Warren lived life fully and embraced every moment with passion and joy. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace, knowing his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
