Wilgus Jennings Webb

On Friday, March 24, 2023, Wilgus Jennings Webb passed away at the age of 82 years.

Beloved husband of the late Hilda Webb. Loving father of Wilgus (Vanessa) Webb Jr., April Rose (Jason) Carey, Brian (Marsha) Webb, Frank Webb, Dennis (Linzy) Webb, Michael Watkins, Pam Watkins, and Jackie Watkins. Proud grandfather of Jason, Jacob, Emily Rose, Erin Rose, Alyssa, Ethan, Avery, Madison, Jackson, Benjamin, and Jimmy. Caring great-grandfather of 6 great-grandchildren.

Wilgus was born on October 21, 1940 to the late Frank Webb and the late Leona (Polly) Webb in Mayking, Kentucky. He was the oldest of 5 children and is preceded in death by his 4 brothers. Around 1950, the Webb family moved to Michigan in search of work and his father worked at an automotive plant for many years. The hills and family roots of Kentucky were a highlight throughout his life and he would regularly visit family there. A bright spot in his life was attending the Polly Family Reunion, which has been happening for more than 50 years.

Wilgus loved the Lord and his relationship with Jesus was one of the most important parts of his life. He regularly attended church before he became unable. Wilgus even had a hat that said "Jesus is my Boss" to show how much he cared for his Savior. He spoke about Jesus to anyone who would listen, preached at church, taught Sunday School, and regularly purchased Bibles to pass out and witness. Wilgus had a giving spirit and would take the shirt off his own back to give it to someone else who needed it more.

Wilgus' other passion in life was his family. He raised 5 wonderful children who grew up to have beautiful families of their own. Everything Wilgus did, he did for the benefit of his family. During his working years, Wilgus held multiple jobs to make sure that his family always had what they needed. When his family was young, he would often come home for lunch. His children would crowd around him as he sat in his chair and he would share it with them. Wilgus' last job was driving trucks for Bax Global. He worked there for about 20 years before retiring. As his children grew into having their own families, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them. After retirement, Wilgus and Hilda moved up into Northern Michigan to enjoy a quieter life and enjoy the beautiful land.

Wilgus will be forever missed by his family and friends. The legacy of kindness and love he demonstrated throughout his life will live on in everyone who knew him and they will always remember that "twinkle in his eye."

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023  1:00 PM until time of Funeral Service at 6:30 PM.

Interment will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Mills Township Cemetery in Prescott, MI.  Time to be determined.
