William Michael “Mike” Norris, age 72, passed away on April 27, 2026. He was born on October 14, 1953, to Wanda Eileen (Vanover) Norris and the late Lester Wayne Norris. Mike lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and an unwavering love for his family.
A skilled millwright in the automotive industry, Mike dedicated himself fully to his work. Known for his strong work ethic, he worked many long hours, demonstrating a level of responsibility and commitment that left a lasting impression on those around him. He was a man who believed in doing things right, even if it meant doing them the hard way, and while he could be a bit set in his ways, it was always with good intention and pride.
Mike shared an enduring bond with his late ex-wife, Phyllis Norris. Though they chose not to remain married, their love for each other never faded, and they maintained a deep friendship and connection throughout the years—a testament to the respect and care they held for one another.
He was the proud father of Michael Robert Norris and his wife Courtney and a devoted grandfather to Miranda Norris, Nicole Norris, and Michael A. Norris and his wife Buse Bektas-Norris. While he could be a bit stern as a father, his granddaughters quickly discovered they could do no wrong in his eyes. Mike loved his family fiercely and was deeply proud of them all.
He is also survived by his sister, Melanie (Stephen) Davis, his nephew Braden Davis, along with extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
He had a passion for bowling and proudly bowled his first perfect 300 game at the age of 21. He also enjoyed golfing, especially the cherished time spent on the course with his son. A devoted Detroit Tigers fan, he rarely missed a game and loved cheering on his team. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Lincoln Park for several years.
Mike found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved trips to Las Vegas, watching westerns, and keeping up with horse racing. One of his most beloved traditions was bringing donuts from Yum Yum to the grandkids on Sunday mornings, a small gesture that meant so much.
Above all, Mike will be remembered as a good man—strong, dependable, and deeply devoted to his family. His presence, stories, and steadfast love will be profoundly missed, but forever carried in the hearts of those who knew him.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Solosy Funeral Home.
